In the anime, Professor Fudo gave the " Stardust Dragon ", " Red Dragon Archfiend " and " Black Rose Dragon " cards to Rex Goodwin he originally planned to give him " Ancient Fairy Dragon " also, but the card was lost before he could pass it on, eventually winding up in the hands of the Dark Signers.
These cards were originally designed so that their corresponding Signer could activate the safety switches for the Ener-D system. Reflecting the rivalry between the two main characters Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas , " Stardust Dragon " and " Red Dragon Archfiend " were the only "Signer Dragons" to have different upgraded versions throughout the 5D's anime.
It is worth noting, however, that " Life Stream Dragon " has its downgraded, armored version, " Power Tool Dragon ", which is a required Synchro Material for its Summon. Both of these monsters were Summoned by Yusei and Jack in a special episode. They have powerful effects, but return themselves to the Extra Deck during the End Phase while reviving their previous form from the Graveyard.
It is highly unlikely that " Red Dragon Archfiend " will receive a " Malefic " form due to "Stardust Dragon" being the only monster card that Paradox stole from the 5D's timeframe. They are not Synchro Summoned in the usual method. Both monsters were released in Starstrike Blast. Reaching this state will cause the duelist, and their Duel Runner to become a shining gold color, implicating the god-like power involved with performing this type of Synchro Summon.
However, they do not require their corresponding Signer counterpart in their summoning requirements. However, despite this downfall, it is able to attack once for every Synchro Material used to Synchro Summon it, and it can negate one card or effect per turn. It can also call for backup by Special Summoning a " Shooting Star Dragon " from the Extra Deck if it ever gets removed from the field. In the anime, it was Synchro Summoned using all of the other "Signer Dragons" the exception being, of course, " Stardust Dragon " as Synchro Materials, utilizing the effect of " Life Stream Dragon " to reduce their Levels to 1.
In the Yu-Gi-Oh! Instead, a similar series known as the Duel Dragons is featured. There are various kinds of playing styles for each dragon, especially " Stardust Dragon " and " Red Dragon Archfiend ". All of the dragons except " Life Stream Dragon " have no specific Summoning conditions , making them easy to Synchro Summon , so they can be used in almost any Extra Deck.

Stardust single-handedly reshaped the meta around itself when it was released. The ace monster of Yusei of Yu-Gi-Oh! Then, during the End Phase it could special summon itself back from the grave.
This reduced the usefulness of Mirror Force and ushered in the era of Dimensional Prison, as Sakuretsu Armor completely died to this card. Like Stardust, it dodged destruction and had a quick effect. This dragon has been a staple in Synchro decks for years, even now for the most part. It was a very simple way to clear everything if the opponent put too many cards out and overextended. This ability is basically useless, and most people probably forget it was even usable in the first place.
Ancient Fairy Dragon was pretty innocent back in the day, but then people realized it could special summon any level 4 or lower from their hand. It also allows its owner to destroy as many field spells on the field as possible, then gain LP and add a field spell from their deck to their hand. Nonetheless, according to Goodwin the four of them are not only duelists chosen by the Dragon Star himself, but they are also the reincarnations of the ancient Signers themselves.
Also, it was already predicted thousands of years ago the four of them would encounter one another. The same goes for "Life Stream Dragon" after the battle against the Earthbound Immortals before it was encased in armor to form " Power Tool Dragon " in order to prevent himself to be a Signer Dragon. However, during the ultimate Shadow Turbo Duel against Rex Goodwin , the Tail and Head Marks are transferred: the Head is now under the possession of Yusei while the Tail formerly Yusei's chooses Crow Hogan as its new owner, making him the new fifth Signer the Head Mark signifies a leader of sorts, choosing Yusei as its new owner.
Ultimately, a new mark, the Heart seen on the full Dragon Mark in the claws of the Crimson Dragon , was bestowed to Leo when he sacrificed himself during his Duel against Aporia alongside Luna and Jack and was revived, making him the new sixth Signer.
It is interesting to note that both Jack and Roman had their marks from birth whereas Akiza got her mark at a young age, Luna received hers after she went to the Spirit World the first time, Yusei did not receive his until Episode 5 and it was not permanently burnt in until Episode 25, and Crow and Leo received their's in Episodes 64 and respectively.
A Signer's mark throbs and glows while they are in close proximity of one of the Dragons when it is fighting with a great deal of determination, particularly for the sake of their Signer. A Signer's mark glows and painfully digs into their arm, when they are in the presence of a Dark Signer.
